  • How to recognize interactions between adults and children that may be inappropriate
  • How to respond if you see something of concern
  •  Skills and information on safe environments (school, sports, internet, etc.)
If you have any questions, please contact your child(ren)'s teacher.

New Social-Emotional Teacher

We have a new teacher with a familiar face to introduce! Mrs. Kara Schommer is back this year as our Social-Emotional teacher for all grades! Mrs. Schommer taught 3rd grade at HT last year and decided to specialize in more specific areas of education. Using Federal grant money, her position is part time and critical in a post-Covid (or still during Covid) education setting. She will focus on helping our students re-enter, re-engage and regulate their emotions, bodies and words. Mrs. Schommer's office is the School Counselor's office and her email is kschommer@htsch.org. She's already working with students and teachers to support everyone's return to school.

Music Appreciation with Mr. Canedo

Our Music Appreciation has several components, and we are excited to begin a new piece this month! Mr. Ken Canedo already works with PK-8 students preparing to host Mass. He conducts our talented Choir, and he is preparing for the Christmas Concert with our students. Now, he's beginning sessions on specific genres of Music for all PK-8th grade students.
  • Session 1: Folk Music (November)
  • Session 2: Chant and Hymns (December)
  • Session 3: Classical and Jazz (January)
  • Session 4: Rock and Popular Music (February)
  • Session 5: Rap and Hip Hop (March)
  • Session 6: World Music (April)
If you haven't been to a school Mass yet, it's a real treat to hear Mr. Canedo play the piano and our large Choir sing so joyfully!
