7th Grade Samurai Study

Our 7th graders are currently wrapping up a unit on Feudal Japan.  Along with other related topics, our students studied the history of samurai, their place in the feudal system of Japan, their training, the code of Bushido, and the poetic form of the haiku.

This culminated in a project where our students transformed into samurai themselves!  They applied the fruits of their learning to attune to a historical samurai and strike a pose in tribute.  Each student wrote a haiku reflecting their learning and then superimposed their face onto artwork by Ebine Shindo depicting their samurai in dramatic action.

I'd like to share these wonderful creations with you.  Please visit this link to go through a Google Slides presentation and view the incredible work that our students have created!  You can click the spacebar to move to the next samurai manually or wait 10 seconds for the Slides to move you automatically.  Enjoy!

Summer Sitter and Tutor List

Last year, we shared a list of HT graduates that are available to babysit and/or tutor over the summer. The list was a big hit, so we'll begin compiling names again to share here.
