Save the Date!

Let's kick-off the summer with a fun school community event! Upon early dismissal June 18th,  head out to the playground area with your kid(s). Bring your own beverage, lunch, and a picnic blanket* and join other school families for fellowship. We'll have an ice cream truck with treats for the students, music, and hopefully a photobooth and dunk tank too. We're still finalizing plans for the event and we do have a few volunteer needs. Children attending the event must have a parent/guardian present. More details to follow as this event gets closer and plans are finalized.
*There will be some socially distanced tables available too and plenty of sanitizing wipes.

Pack 598 News

Let's get revved up for Pinewood Derby. To facilitate social distancing, Lions, Tigers, Wolves, and Bear Dens will meet at 6:00 outside the cafeteria. Webelos will meet at 6:45. I hope everyone has a car racing kit and you have begun to design your best car ever! Be creative because we always have awards honoring scouts who go above and beyond with their cars. Please see the design rules when making your cars.
  • All cars must pass the following inspection to qualify for the race:
  • All 4 wheels must touch the track.
  • The car front must be wide enough to rest behind the starting block (no pointy cars).
  • Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.
  • Length shall not exceed 7 inches.
  • Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.
  • Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit. Additional wheels can be purchased separately.
  • Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
  • No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.
  • The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.
  • The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
  • No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the car.
Please try to have your car weighed and ready to go in advance. Reach out to your den leader if you have any questions or concerns.
Yours In Scouting,
Jacquelyn Delplanche
